PRIMORDIAL Frontman: The Day Is Nearly Upon Us'
November 8, 2007Vocalist Nemtheanga of the Irish dark metal masters PRIMORDIAL has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
"So the day is nearly upon us... [the new PRIMORDIAL album] 'To The Nameless Dead' will be out within two weeks.
"For many people out there it seems like we have only existed from 'The Gathering Wilderness' on. I guess that was partially to be expected once we made the step up onto a bigger label. All this media attention and increased scrutiny when we aren't exactly 21 years old and perhaps able to capitalise on it properly leaves me with mixed feelings. It is, of course, gratifying, whether it translates into sales remains to be seen. Somehow we have come in from the fringes of the scene to occupy for a moment at least centre stage. It's a strange and somehow surreal feeling and I'm sure it will get stranger. Hopefully we won't have to revoke our underdog status just yet. We will do what we can when it comes to touring and festivals in 2008 but right now the deluge of offers is far too great to be able to do all of them.
"To be young free and reckless…
"We should be able to announce something soon, however.
"One important thing that you all should note is that there are some type errors in the booklet of the album. P.MacAmhlaigh should be credited in the songwriting of 'Heathen Tribes'. His name was left off for some inexplicable reason. Hopefully it will be addressed in the repress….
"So I will continue to add various things the press has been saying about us over the coming weeks and we will continue to view it with one eyebrow raised….
"Keep the faith my friends!
"No compromise, not then, not now, not ever……."
Metal Blade Records has launched a special PRIMORDIALMySpace page featuring streaming versions of two tracks — "Empire Falls" and "Heathen Tribes" — from the Irish dark metal masters' sixth album, "To The Nameless Dead", which will be released in Europe on November 19.
According to a press release, the group's second CD for Metal Blade "is a timeless statement and an ode to their forefathers which lives and breathes the ancient spirit mixed with anger, pain and despair. . . 'To The Nameless Dead' is defiantly at odds with a modern metal scene that often seems to place banality, mediocrity and safety above passion, honesty and truth."
Harsher and faster than its predecessor, "To The Nameless Dead" wasn't recorded digitally — just analog to keep the sound old school and powerful.
The album will be available as a limited first edition in a digibook (cover artwork),featuring another design, 40 pages and a bonus DVD of PRIMORDIAL's performance at the Rock Hard Festival.
"To The Nameless Dead" (jewelcase cover artwork) track listing:
01. Empire Falls
02. Gallows Hymn
03. As Rome Burns
04. Failures Burden
05. Heathen Tribes
06. The Rising Tide
07. Traitors Gate
08. No Nation On This Earth
